Mars College is gearing up for a new season, and one of the new camps this year is called Mars Research. Mars Research is dedicated to the study of AI, and this upcoming academic program will focus on generative AI. Let’s explore the tracks and courses that will shape the program.
Courses and Tracks
The curriculum aims to give practical experience on using AI systems to be more productive and interact effectively with the internet economy. As always, it will feature an open calendar where Martians can organize events and workshops around topics of their choosing. At the same time, a number of alumni are proposing specific tracks including:
Video Creation and AI Filmmaking
From short film trailers to full-length features, we're going to share our processes for drafting, editing, and refining video content with generative AI tools. You'll learn to use various tools to create commercials, promotional materials, music videos, and even experiment with live VJing. The course will culminate in our second annual AI film festival.
Using techniques from this course, we made the following commercial video to advertise Mars Research.
Collective Intelligence Studies
In this track, we will build experimental visual chatbots and agents that represent ourselves or fictional identities and let them interact in simulacra. It’s a grand experiment in modeling social dynamics—playing out conflict resolution, simulating collective decision-making games like Nomic, and channeling collective wisdom to create something unique. This course is for those intrigued by the intersection of psychology, AI, and culture.
Product Lab
Our Product Lab is about turning product ideas into functioning products. Product Lab will guide you through everything from ideation to building and launching a product, including setting up an online storefront. Product Lab will provide the mentorship, coaching, and resources you need to make it happen.
Productivity with LLMs and Personal Assistants
In this track, you’ll learn how to be more productive using language models like Llama3, Claude, ChatGPT, and our own creative assistant, Eve. We’ll go beyond basic prompting, diving into how LLMs can enhance your productivity across any domain—whether it’s research, business, or creative work. Imagine having an AI assistant helping you automate workflows, from sending emails and analyzing reports to brainstorming ideas while you sleep or helping you make interactive websites without any coding experience. This course will show you how to create powerful agentic pipelines that perform valuable tasks in the background, giving you the space to focus on what truly matters.
